Can Shrink on Detail Section Not Working

I'm trying to make a POS receipt using MS Access 2010 Reports. The formatting is all done but when, for instance, a customer buys only one item that item shows but the rest of the detail section is just blank with needless white space then comes the page footer at the bottom.

I've read up online and this is what i have tried:

-set the detail section can shrink property to yes
-set all the controls in the detail section's can shrink property to yes
-made sure the controls start right at the top of the detail section i.e. Top = 0"
-made sure that the controls are the same height

Please can someone help, it's been days now, this is literally my last resort. I'm fairly experienced with access and vba but i've never had to do this before.

    Thanks.

I have found that it works better to start small and let it grow. It works better for me to make my controls the minimum size then set can grow.

start by coping your report so you can easily go back if you dont like how it works. I can't see how you got it formatted.

Then (in design view) make your control heights as small as possible. Then drag the detail section up as far as it will go. The main thing is to keep the control widths.
