    Multiple valued field locking tables

    Hi,

While being in a add only form a multiple valued field is locking (after use) the table. This is a common problem with the type of field:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918578

Do you know a workaround? I cannot save after update, because later in the form there is a required lookup field and there is no saving without it, also i cannot make the users enter this first, since the other information is required (hard to explain).

Problem field is called: licence. the licence is hence connected to the field agent later on, which doesn't allow the form to be save before entered.

    Thanks!
    Jamy

Is "Allow Edits" set to Yes?

Can you manually update the the forms record source? BY that I mean open the forms record source in the QBE window and try to update it.

Alternative, create a new (test only) form with the form wizard (position of controls, etc don't matter) with the subject record source.Try to update that ne (test only) form.

The above may shed some light on your issue.

Allow edits is set to yes and i believe i haven't explained the problem correctly. If one user is in this form, everything works perfectly, however once the second user enters, they are not allowed to enter a value in the multiple valued textbox and gives the error: Could not update; currently locked.

Only when the first user exits or saves, they are allowed to enter values in the textfield.

    Turn record locking off.

This creates additional problems. Two users change the same record at the same time. 1st user gets to saves, 2nd user will get an error when he tries to save.

Record locking was already off. If it was that simple I would have solved it already. See the url i've paste in first message, this explains the problem, but doesn't come with a solution.

Hopefully, you have 2 computers side by side working on this issue.

I haven't heard of this (probably inexperienced). I've looked it up but can't see how this can solve my problem? Commit is (as i understand) a way of saving??
