    Add an Auto Number field

I have a database with many records that I realize now I should have added an Auto Number field to the table and made it the Primary Key. Can I now add an Auto Number field to the table and make it the Primary Key? If so, how?

You can. Open table in design view and add autonumber field. Might have to delete some relationships before allowed to change the PK designation.

However, if there are already relating tables that will need this new value as foreign key, will also need new field in related table(s) and update with the new value.

An autonumber field does not have to be PK although that is often the best approach.
