my excel program has 45 columns, 3,000 rows and 6,000 kb.
it is unbearably slow.
I am going to try linking it to an access program and see how it works.
is there a better solution?

That is not a lot of data for Access to examine if you *import* the spreadsheet. It really depends on what you are attempting to do.
I would say yes, put it in access.
3000 rows and 45 columns aren't that much for excel as well. What kind of formulars are you working with? If you are solving a relational related problem, it is worth trying access. To give you a more specific answer it would be helpful to know what your application does.
