Question Access database becomes read only after linking to excel?

I linked an access querry to an excel spreadsheet, but when I try to open the database now is gives a note stating the database is read only and says you have to make a copy of the database to use it. So you can't link queries to excel and then go back to re-use the database?

You have Access link to an Excel spreadsheet? Then you build a query with the link? I do that and have no issue opening db, even when the spreadsheet is also open.

Thanks, created the access querry. Then working from excell, imported the access querry, now it's locked up.

So Access is NOT linking to Excel?

Is the db still locked with the Excel file closed?
