    Locking down Access

    Hey guys,

    Security question.

Our front end users all are part of my CustSvc group. I have hidden the main window (forgot what its called, but its where you pick queries, tables, etc). I have recently learned that my users are opening up my table, after unhiding it, and changing data. Not only is this dishonest, against company policy, but it could easily corrupt the database.

The users need to be able to read, and update data to this table. It is supposed to be done through a form. On this form, all they can do is add an "x" in the void field.

How can I prevent users from opening up anything without using buttons on the main switchboard?

Can use Access Options to disable the Navigation pane, ribbon, shortcut keys, function keys.

Be aware that holding down shift key while opening db will bypass most of the Option settings.

Also, if users know location of the backend db, they can just go directly there, unless the backend has password protection.

    Using this:

Unless you know of a better option?

Also unchecked the "use access keys" so they can't hit F11, etc

I never used 2003 very long and never set up db with security so your research is as good as any.
