Can I back up the backend of the database if someone is accessing it?

I want to put the backend of the database on a regular schedule. But people are always leaving the front end of the database open on their computers. A couple of people NEVER close the front end. Can i still backup the backend of the database if they leave it open? or even if theyre using the database at the time? Thanks

I personally wouldn't. Sounds like this might help:

I copy dB's at night regardless of someone having it open or not. Maybe I should not.

My thoughts are, nobody is locking records. I even automate backups on files that are not split.

I would maybe be concerned if I tried to copy and paste a file at the moment a record was locked. Otherwise, I have not observed any adverse effects.

I agree with ItsMe's post above. I do it all the time (when use is low) and I have yet to see a problem. This with large (400 meg) back end MDB's with 100'000's of records.
