    Convert combox into text

    Hello,

I have a field that is a combo box that I would like to conver into a text box. When I try to change the 'display control' to 'text' I loose all the information that is displyed in the field. I want to keep the current values that are there now, just do away with the combo box.

I have tried simple things like copy and paste, but that just makes the new field a combo box as well.

    Thanks

What do you mean by 'keep the current values'? If the combobox was bound to table field then textbox should still be bound to the field and display whatever value is in the field.

I figured it out. I ended up just exporting the file to excel and then importing it again and the combo box went away. I'm sure there was a better way but this worked.

You mean the field was a Lookup? I never set these in table.

Yes it was. I am working on db I didn't create so some of the set up is foreign to me.

An alternative might have been to create a new field in table, run UPDATE query to populate it with values from the original field, then delete the original field, rename new field with original name.
