I want to update multiple tables without using a subform.

OK, I broke up my 200+ entry table into 8 tables with an ID that links them all. I also have a common data table that has data used by most of the new tables. I want to be able to update both tables (common data and any other table, let's say table 1) at the same time without using a subform. I want to do this so that when table 2 is displayed with the date from the prior update it will display and need not be re-entered. Is this possible? I want to do this to avoid duplicate data entries for things like dates and scores. Thanks again for any help I may get.

If you don't want subforms then have to open independent forms and create the related record with the key value. Requires code.

Why not subforms? So simple, no code required.

I'm not sure if this is the best design especially with 8 tables but I've created a form that inputs into two different tables with no subform by creating a query that gets all the fields from both tables and this includes the primary key and foreign key and then basing the form on the query. And then just put all of the IDs (pks & fks) at the end of the form and ignore them (wish there was a way to hide them) and you can populate your tables then by entering data into the other fields.

Probably cleaner with a sub-form though and/or code.

Couldn't get the combined query/form to work. I will go ahead and use the subform. Thanks again for the input.
