    Help with Designing Payroll Database

I am creating a payroll database for work and could use some help/advice with a few things. I have designed a few smaller databases for work in the past, but this one is quite a bit more complicated & I'm having trouble with some aspects. Every employee has to fill out a time card each shift, which will then be input into the database. This is the only data that should ever need to be input by the user. The function should be to create two main reports. One will show (filtered by a date range): each employee, the dates they worked, the hours they worked each day, the total hours worked in the date range, and the amount of money earned (including overtime. The 2nd report will show how much money will be billed to each project code in the date range.

    Time Card Layout:

Employee Name - ID Number - Date

Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out
Survey Code - Sign In - Sign Out

    Breaks:

    Out - In
    Out - In
    Out - In

    Report 1

Employee - Employee ID - Date Worked - Hours
    ______(indent)________- Date Worked - Hours
    ______(indent)________- Date Worked - Hours
    ______(indent)________---------------------
______(indent)________- Total Hours - Overtime - Amount Earned
    Employee (2)....etc...

    Report 2

Survey Code: Total Hours - Total Amount Billed
Survey Code: Total Hours - Total Amount Billed

    (Sorry for the long posts)

So I currently have a form set up that looks basically identical to the time card that the user will use to input the data. The table saves each time line as Line1Code, Line1Start, Line1End, Line2Code, Line2Start, Line2End...all the way through to Line 8. So many fields in the table are becoming cumbersome, as well as difficult to manipulate in queries. I need to develop queries to determine all of the information needed in the reports, then create the reports & format them reasonably so they can printed & look professional. I realize my questions are not very specific, but I would very much appreciate any help/insight.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
