Compact on Close function has stopped working; MS Access 2003->2007 How to fix?

I was receiving 'Network Interuption' messages on my PC for the past few months until last week. Tech support did some adjusting on my PC settings last Thursday and right after that my database began growing in size by 10Mb to 20MB per day. There has been negligible data entry and minimal design work done over the past week since adjustments. When closing the database, the former compacting ribbon/message ion the bottom of the screen no longer appears. Can anyone advise on this problem please? Darryl.

Perhaps you can look at the hidden system tables and determine from that why your DB is growing in size.
