What are the benefits of an Executable Access File?

Will it lock the tables and queries like I read on a forum?

Also what are the bad points of having an executable access file?

I am thinking of trying this but would like to know exactly what the difference is.

You mean a .mde or .accde ? Converting the database to .mde or .accde, will remove the VBA code modules from the database. It's used to prevent the end user from making changes to the design of the front end.
