    Query snapshot's

    Dear all,

I am currently running a query which provides an output like the below example, by running a number of calculations, which provides a view of a server estate and when they are due to run out of space.

Current Date Computer_Name Disk_ID CurrentSize CurrentUsed CurrentLeft DailyDelta EstDaysLeft EstFullDate
    10/03/2014 Server1 DiskA 50 40 10 2 5 15/03/2014
    10/03/2014 Server1 DiskB 60 20 40 10 4 14/03/2014

What I would like to achieve now is a way of performing shapshots of the data to focus on those which are consistent. At the moment I am running the query every Monday/Friday, performing a manual shapshot by inserting it into Excel and running VLOOKUP queries to highlight consistent trends (i.e. servers which are not showing 5 EstDaysLeft one day and then 104 the next and 2 the day after).

Is there a way of running this in Access? An example of my snapshot Excel file is below...

    Server Name 03/03/2014 03/03/2014 07/03/2014 07/03/2014 10/03/2014 10/03/2014
EstDaysLeft EstFullDate EstDaysLeft EstFullDate EstDaysLeft EstFullDate
    Server1 20 23/03/2014 15 22/03/2014 10 20/03/2014

It could be done in Access, I am not sure how easily. The second table looks a lot like CROSSTAB query. The filter criteria you describe sounds complicated.

    Hi June,

Sorry; what filter criteria? I'm not looking to only show the records which remain consistent, I'd be happy for it to show everything (e.g. the below table) and the review would then just be centred around those that are visually decreasing. I'm sure the dates below aren't accurate to the day, but it's just to show a portrayal of the type of 'non-consistent' trend that I would not be concerned about, but am still happy to show; they don't need to be filtered out.

Hopefully this makes some more sense?

    Server Name 03/03/2014 03/03/2014 07/03/2014 07/03/2014 10/03/2014 10/03/2014
EstDaysLeft EstFullDate EstDaysLeft EstFullDate EstDaysLeft EstFullDate
    Server1 20 23/03/2014 15 22/03/2014 10 20/03/2014
    Server2 20 23/03/2014 100 02/09/2014 250 05/04/2015
    Server3 30 02/04/2014 156 05/10/2014 300 06/05/2015

I read this as filter criteria: servers which are not showing 5 EstDaysLeft one day and then 104 the next and 2 the day after

    My comments still apply.

Start with a review of http://allenbrowne.com/ser-67.html

How many dates? There is a 255 field limit.
