Report Item Number Colums generates Stray Numbers not in original query

    I've got a headscratcher here...

I have a data base that tracks items in a wild fur aution by lots...

The break-down and sorting is by -
    Lot#
    Sub-Lot-Letter
All the other data is just details about each sub-lot

    Here is the rub...

The query I am using to for the report sorts over 100 lots and sublots according to which buyer bought them
Then that information is sorted in ascending order by lot#

The query is correct BUT when I generate a report it will start taking lot numbers over 15 or so and creating new ones like 31, 32, 38 etc. for no reason...

The details stay the same but the lots numbers on the report get goofy AND/BUT the data in the original table and query remains intact and correct...

I struggling with this one...I do have a work around which is to export the query to Excel and reimport to a new table and produce a report from the table which works but I shouldn't have to do this...updates on MS Office are in place and the database is/has no relationship problems that I can find....

WHat would make a report just create stray information...

On a side note...if I query for some lot#s like 23 it will return 18...doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason...

There is a reason, finding it might be a challenge.

If you want to provide database for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Interesting proposal...is this pro bono or for hire?

Thanks for such a generous offer but right now MY PRIDE and TENACITY has me wrestling with this issue...
So Far it seems that the Grouping and formatting of the report is what is causing the problem...
If I Group by the Fur Buyer then by the Lot# it wants to assign the arbitrary lot#s to the last few entries...if I choose a stepped or outlined output
BUT If I Group by just Fur BUyer and then choose a blocked output where the individual sums on each Lot aren't used it will create basically a spreadsheet with
    a grand total
I'm wanting to have it sum total each separate lot and its sublots then grand total

Strangely if I save the query out to excel and reimport to a new table I can sort and group as I choose and get the results I want...

Anyway, I'll keep your offer in mind...thanks

Thanks Again for the offer...presently I seemed to have solved the problem but without really knowing where the bug was or is...

It seems the Report Generator in Access 2013 did not like my data or maybe just has a bug or something...

My fix was to open a blank report and build it all from scratch using the Access WYSIWYG opions...no coding just trial and error and doing
the art work side...moving, resizing, etc.

Learn something new everyday...I have several other reports to create and I'm leaning towards just doing them all from scratch from now on.

I can throw a bunch of data on a page in some reasonable order and play with it until I get the results I want before doing all the artsy stuff...
With time this will become easier and faster...

    Back to the grind stone...
