Users cant use split database simultaneously

I split my database and put the BE on a shared network folder. The users can access and change data on the database fine as long as someone else isn't using it. If another person is logged on and using the database another person will be able to open the database but if the new user tries to click on a button or go anywhere besides the main menu it says there is already a user in the database and wont allow the user to go anywhere. How can I fix this? Thanks

Do all of the users have their own copy of the Front End? http://allenbrowne.com/ser-01.html

Update: I found a likely solution here
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289681
which suggests its user create rights for the network folder

Actually it looks like the problem is more likely the location where the .ldb file gets created. I put the FE of the database on each users Desktop and the BE on a shared network folder on the server. When I close the database I notice the .ldb getting deleted on the desktop, it should be created where the BE of the database exists. Any ideas on how to change this location?

Apparently I cant move a .ldb file. Should I be saving one front end in the same shared network folder and telling everyone to access it there? I'm new to splitting databases

Do you happen to have a copy of the BE on your PC? Just a wild guess.

You may get additional ideas from this and/or this.

No I dont think that I do, when I split the database I put the BE right in the network folder from the database split wizard. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out

There will be an LDB file where the FE exists *and* an LDB where the BE exists. All users will need full privileges where the BE resides.

Youre right there is one created in both locations for the FE and BE. It seems like the group on Linux server has full read write delete privileges for the folder but maybe I just need a lesson on folder permissions in linux

Please tell us more about the Linux server and how Access BE is installed there.

I figured it out. It was the linux file/folder permissions. I'm running CentOS on the server that the shared network folder is on where the BE of the database resides. I made myself the owner of the folder, then assigned the group full read write delete privileges for the entire group and it worked.
