Back end is NOT creating lock file

I am having a weird issue with one of my databases: the back end is not locking.

I have double-checked the linked tables address, and even re-linked the tables, so I am certain that the front-end linked table addresses are correct.

I also tried opening the back end by itself, and it won't create a lock file. I can compact/repair with multiple front-ends open.

As far as I know, this issue started today. I linked to a backup back-end from Wednesday 2/19, and it created a lock file when opened through the front-end and opened by itself.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I imagine there is some option in the Client Settings (Access 2010) that I haven't checked.

    Thanks!

Have you run Compact & Repair on the BE?

I did. I'm starting to think this is an error with my shared drive network, because it's happening with my other databases too. Unfortunately I work for a huge company and I have no way to verify myself. Thanks for your response.

In Access 2010, I changed my Client Settings - Default Open Mode from "Exclusive" to "Shared" and that seemed to fix it.

Thanks for sharing solution. I never would have thought of that. Not a setting I've ever fiddled with.
