    Blank Data to Combo

When I advance to a new record it gives me an error that the combo field must have a selcction for a valid record. Is there a way to have the database accept a new record without having data from the table that the combo is attached to??

You have not supplied enough information yet. Are you using Lookup Fields in your tables?

The combo is bound to a table.

    Blank Data to Combo

Also, you may want to look and see if you have the field set to "required". If the field requires data to complete the record this could be holding you up.

But, as RG says, you are proving us with very little information to go on

    Required

JBarrum, where I do I find the "required" setting on the combo box field?
My layout is a form with a combo box on it among other fields. The combo box's source is a table.

    Lookup Fields

    Rural Guy,

I haven't looked at much Access in years. How do I know whether I am using lookup fields at the table level?

    dlewicki,

The "required" restriction is set at the field level inside of the table itself. Open the table in deisign view and select the filed in question and then check the properties below for property item called "requried". By default this is set to "no". Aslo, in regards to RG response about checking to see if you are using lookups at the table level go back to his thread (#4) and the blue link you see whill provide you with a screen shot of what is was referring to. It is in the same place I have you looking for the required setting but the oter tab called "lookup"

I found out how to know whether the lookup fields were enabled at the table level, thanks RG, I didn't look over your link carefully enough. Anyway, it failed to work.

Also the field itself at the table level is "no" for required. I tried "yes" and it failed to work also.

Then without more information as to what your form is built off of, and what your cmbo box is linked to I could only help If i were to see your DB. If you want to upload and example db I will take a look
