Can't get rid of parameter in report

In Access 2010, a query contains a field called Dean. Dean can have one of five values - T, N, J, D, or P.

The query is written so Dean =T. I ran the query and it worked fine. I ran the report based on the query and it worked fine. Both the query and report gave me all the records I expect where Dean =T; and neither the query nor the report ask for a value for Dean.

Then I removed Dean from the query entirely, and ran the query again. No problem; it returned all the records I expected where Dean =T.

However, the report that's based on this query now asks, "Enter Parameter Value" for Dean.

I want to not have to enter a value for Dean when I run the report. Any thoughts? Please bear in mind, I'm not a programmer. Thanks.

Clear the Record Source for the report and then add it back. Try report again.

Thanks for that suggestion, RuralGuy; unfortunately, it didn't help.

This time save the report after clearing the Record Source. Then open again in design view and set the Record Source again.

This doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem with the query.

If the query executes correctly standalone, then something else it the culprit.

Was there a control bound to the field "Dean"?
Was there a sort order set for "Dean"?
Was there a Group header/footer set for "Dean?

    1) Look for other places in the report where you are using the field Dean. Are you using it somewhere that it cannot be resolved?

HINT: Change the controls on the report so that they are named differently from the underlying fields on the query. This will help differentiate between objects.

    2) Post the SQL for the query that is failing.

RuralGuy, I did. I cleared the record source, saved the report, ran the report, closed the report. Then I re-opened the report in Design View, selected the record source, saved the report, ran the report again, and it's still asking for Dean.

Hmm...then the other suggestions might apply unless you want to attach your zipped up db to a post so we can look at it. Remove any sensitive data of course.
