Problems with data entry in sub form on tab control

I have my main form (faculty), plus 4 tabs each with a subform. 1 of the tabs is for publications belonging to the faculty. I created that subform from the Publications table and included the Publication ID primary key and the Faculty ID foreign key. There was some existing data in the publications table that showed up in the subform but when i tried to create a new publication using the subform it didn't automatically attach itself to the data on the main form. The Faculty ID field remained empty rather than automatically populate itself with the faculty id on the main form. I'm sorry i know i'm not explaining this well.

Did you set the Master/Child links properties of the subform container control?

The subform has Faculty ID in both link fields - that's correct right?

Sounds right. So I don't understand why this issue occurs. If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
