    Question record set not updateable

I have a split form. The split form is created from one table. The data that appears in the data sheet view of the form is populated based on the combo box data. I have one field in the data sheet that will need to be updated. The data sheet field displays a list of options however when selected the caption below stats record set not updateable. I really need a simple solution for this problem, without having to redo my whole database.

The form I created has macros and queries built into the unbound combo boxes and that would be a tremendous undertake. I am not familiar with code, so will someone please show me pictures or make it as simple as possible. Thank you.

The OP said that the Form is based on a Table, not a multi-table Query, although I'm not really sure what "The data that appears in the data sheet view of the form is populated based on the combo box data..." means.

If you got to Properties - Format and scroll down near the bottom, there's a Property named 'Split Form Datasheet;' is it set to Read-Only? If so, change it to Allow Edits and see if that helps.

My split form has unbound combo boxes in the header so that a user can pull records from the table. The results are displayed in the data sheet. There is one drop down field in the data sheet that needs updating if not already populated when a selection is made from the drop down: I get the message record set is not updateable. Yes the data sheet is set for edits. Thank you for your assistance.

Can you describe or us exactly how this works? What is the purpose of the unbound combo? What is the Rowsource of the combo?
