Custom & Auto Incrementing Job Number

Many months back when I started building my database I came across a web page article or forum entry that gave step by step instructions on how to create an auto incrementing job number, or something like that, with a predefined prefix for each user. Unfortunately though I can't remember where I found it and I have searched and checked all my bookmarked web pages. Anyone have a link to this or a similar article?

Ask and you shall find on your own.

Below is a link to the website that I originally was looking for. It demontrates the basic concept that I want to accomplish but I have not tried it yet nor tried to re-engineer it to do what I want it to do. I will report back my success or failure. If anyone has any comments about the routine though I would be glad to hear them.
