Group by year where date in a query

I have a query of totals of bookings grouped where it counts the bookings however I would like to separate those into their years using a date field

So where all dates are in 2012 display grouped and in turn all the other years so that I can see what the tallies are for each year

I am assuming it is group by where but I am not sure on the criteria and I don't want to type in a date (I'd rather have it format the field to year and then group)

    any ideas?
