Use existaing database for something new
i have created a database for use in our company safety deparment. Now i would like to use the same type of database for our equipment fleet. hope someone can help. I want to be able to take the existing database i have and change the layout and field names to fit what i want to use it for now. How do I do this so I dont have to rebuild the entire database from scratch? Took me a long time to build this one to make it work the way it sits today as I am very new to access. Dont want to have to recreate the wheel if i dont have to.

Just make a copy of the db and start whacking.

Sorry, but how do I make a copy that has everything the same except none of my entered data? After i do this and start making changes it wont effect my other version at all correct?

First copy whole database. Second open each table in turn, select all, delete all rows, thirdly if you need, starting with tables change field names which you then have to change in subsequent queries, forms, tables, reports, macros etc

The method I pointed to is *much* faster and easier. Just only import the structure of the tables.
