    Need Ideas..

    Hello,

I am posting this in the general column because I don't know where this question will lead.

FYI: This is my second-day working with Access.

    Long-story short:

I am creating a database, that will track details of errors that my operators commit.

The database will be fed through a form used by three or four different QA's.

When inputting information into the form (and thereby the database) I want the QA to be able to input the operator's name/ID Number/Div. Number and for the information all to be attributed to the same person.

    For Instance:

    Operator Name: John Doe
    ID Number: 123456789
    Div. Number: 3141596275

On the form, I want the QA to be able to type-in: John Doe OR 123456789 OR 3141596275 and the information will all fall into John Doe.

    Is this possible?

If this is possible, I have added steps that I would like to build-off of this.

    Thanks

Allowing selection of operator by entry of any of multiple identifiers would be tricky. Don't think I've ever run into this. I suspect will involve 3 unbound controls and code to save value from whichever box is not null when the record is committed.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Would it be possible to link the fields up through a report?

What do you mean by that? Use the controls as criteria for a report? Yes, pull value from the control that is not null. Can be parameter in query or VBA code. In either case, Nz function could be utilized.

    Nz([control1],Nz([control2],[control3]))
