Workgroup command in access 2010 doesn't work in access 2013

I just upgraded from Access 2010 to 2013.

In version 2010, I could open a protected access file using the following command in the MSAccess shortcut target field:

“full path to msaccess.exe” “full path to mdb” /wrkgrp “full path to secure mdw”

That command isn't working in version 2013. When I click the shortcut, I get the following message in a dialogue box:


"Cannot open a database created with a previous version of your application."

Can anyone help?

(0) One MS site suggests that you compact the database and try again.

Just verifying -

(1) What version is the prior file? Support for Access 97 is gone.

(2) Is it an mdb or accdb or what? Several sites talk about problems with MDW files, and the solutions have to do with upgrading those files to 2002/3 before trying to read them in 2013.

(3) is it a replicated database? Apparently, 2013 can't open replicated databases.

(0) I can't compact the database because I'm unable to open it.
(1) I can't tell what version the file is.
(2) It is an mdb file.
(3) It is not a replicated database.
(4) I read the info in the link you provided. I'll try to find someone here with an earlier version of Access and try it.

Hmm. So it could be in any format prior to 2007.
