Access Database Design Expert Required ASAP!

I work for a construction company that needs to manage the maintenance for over 3,000 government properties. We require a system that will allow us to effectively manage these assets, generate work orders with automatic task item codes (drop down menu's), generate reports regarding work order progress, priorities, etc.



Tips on how we would create this type of system would be great.

Find a consultant who deals in property management applications. From the size (3000+) properties, this is not something you create as a first project. If yours is a viable operating company managing 3000+ properties, then get professional help. This is not a DIY for a beginner. There are probably software packages, some web based, some tied into Finance and Personnel systems ( options).

Could you do it ?---sure. Should you do it -- requirements, design, programming, testing.... while learning database, Access, maintenance/service management etc? No, unless you are independently wealthy and have no long lasting ties with the viability of the company.

Analogy to consider, you could fly(pilot) a 747... just a little training etc, but you could fly commercial. Keep it in mind.
