Temporarily link Front End DB to a different Back End and back again

    Hi,

I am working on a project at work that requires me to log on through VPN to link to my Back End database, the network connection is a bit on the slow side so what i would like to do is use my original Back End database or simply copy the existing Back End database and store it temporarily on my computer so that i can make modifications quicker and i can do this without internet connection, i will be modifying Forms and Reports (the Back End database will not change)

So basically what i want is to use the Front End on my computer as normal

    and

Link it to a Copy of the Back End on my computer

    Then

Link my front End back to the Back End in the office through VPN (or when i am next in the office)

When i originally split the database i used "Database Tools" "Move Data" "Access Database" but i cant see anywhere to change the location?

Have you tried the "Linked Table Manager" under the Database Tools tab?

Thanks for that, yes i have tried it, i put both Front End and Back End in the same folder and that seemed to be my problem, I have just tried it again with the Back End on the desk top and it works, so all good now, for some reason i cant get it to work with both Front End and Back End in the same folder. Thanks

I have just tried it again and it gives me the same error, Linked Table Manager, the file (Old file location) is not a valid location, even though it is being pointed to a different location to the error it is giving me, if i copy and past the be file to another location it works ok.

Not sure why but it makes no difference to me where it is so i can work with it in a different folder, so no problems
