    Please help understand 'Partial Depency' and 'transitive Dependency' concept.

    Hello,

    I would highly appreciate it if someone can help me understand a question I came across online and have not been able understand it which is now causing loss of sleep. I have Googled "Partial Dependency" and do understand the concept however when it comes to practicality of its use, I am uncertain how to apply it. I came across an online quiz which had this three part question (An image is included which is the part of the question), I have tried my best to answer it, but I am rather confused. I thank you for any help you can extend.

    Here is the question:

    Looking at the notation, please answer this question:

    1. Which attribute exhibits a partial dependency?

    1. Attribute G
    2. Attribute H
    3. Attribute I
    4. Attribute J
    5. Attribute K

    2. Which attribute exhibits a transitive dependency?

    1. Attribute G
    2. Attribute H
    3. Attribute I
    4. Attribute J
    5. Attribute K

    3. Which attribute(s) should be entirely removed from this table and placed in other table(s)?

    1. Only attribute I
    2. Only attribute J
    3. Only attribute K
    4. Only attributes I and K
    5. Only attributes I and J and K

    Does this make sense:

    K = G
    so K is partially dependent on the G,H combination

    J = G,H
    I = J
    therefore I=G,H
    so I has transitive dependency

    I pick 5 from question 3 because I, J, K are all duplicating G,H value in whole or part.
