    Move and upgrade

Hi. I know nothing at all about Access but am conversent in most other network/domain Windows things, so please be gentle
I have a customer who has a 7 user workgroup. At present they are using a very simple diary in Access. I am led to believe this is split (just figured what that sort of means). They are on Access 2003, XP machines etc. I am installing a new system comprising Win 7 Pro 64 machines, also a 7 64 "Server" to be used as a simple file sharing machine. I have the choice of using 2003 or 2007 Access on their new system.
How do I transfer this from the old to the new? Where do I back-up, server or workstation? How do I "re-split". Is the data on all the workstations the same? Should I use 2003 or 2007?
    Many thanks, Nick

A split database means the data tables are in one file (Access, SQL, Oracle, etc) on central server. Backup of data file would be on server. Each user has a copy of the frontend interface (Access file with queries, forms, reports, code) on each workstation. Even when I used 2003 never used workgroups, don't know anything about them. If customer wants to keep workgroup arrangement guess have to stick with 2003.

This thread discusses how I manage split database http://forums.aspfree.com/microsoft-...tc-324677.html

What do you mean by 're-split'?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
