Why can't I select both cascade options?

I am trying to link 2 tables (Car sales and cars) in a one-to-many relationship and am trying to select both cascade options. When I select both cascade options, I get the message "the database engine could not lock table 'Car Sales' because it is already in use by another person or process'. What should I do in order to be able to select both cascade options?

What is a cascade option? What are you trying to achieve in plain English?

Are you talking about Cascading combo boxes? relationship?

Must be talking about Cascade Update and Cascade Delete in Relationships.

Make sure no objects using the table are open.

OK. Do you have one of the tables open in design view or datasheet view? Do you have a query open that involves one of the tables? Or a Form open that's based on one of the tables?
As June says, something is using the table in some manner is open.
