Help with importing an Excel database?

    Hi,

Im relatively new to Access 2007 and Ive been asked by my father to help him out with creating a database and I am at a loss.

He has asked me to create a way to import excel files with as little human interaction as possible. The problem comes where he wants to be able to look at the information that is about to be imported before it actually goes into the database (The database currently has about 65,000 entries that were all manually inserted).

I was thinking that I would need to create a macro that imports the data into a query that can then be somehow imported into the database itself.

Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you,

    Josh

Maybe can set a link to the spreadsheet to review data. Depends on the sheet structure. Excel link can be worked with like natural table (except for data edit). Why is Excel involved?

He gets information that needs to be entered into the db from the lab in the for of an excel file. I was thinking more of viewing how it will go into the db without the information that is already there and before it goes into the actual db.

    Thanks

Your options for 'preview' are to either link the sheet or import data. This can be automated to the click of a button.

Import from Excel is a common topic. Search forum or Google.

    Here is one
