    2010 vs 2003 users - got a can't access message

I am using Access 2010 but the rest of my team is using 2003. We have a shared DB.
If I open the DB and it compacts on closing. then the next day someone opens in 2003 would that cause the 2003 user to not be able to access?
Everyone including me got the below message this morning. when I looked at the file size it went from 54,000KB to just 92kb.
Could me being in 2010 and the team being in 2003 have done that?

It's possible: Generally speaking, you want everyone to be running the same version of Access AND Windows because the different versions can use different versions of JetDirect to connect to the database. This can cause corruption and data loss (although I've never seen it cause something this serious, usually you only lose a few Records at a time)

That said, this is most likely a bad Compact/Repair. Even an empty database with nothing in it will be at least 200-300kb. The fact that yours is now only 92kb means that Access couldn't rebuild it properly.

Try looking for a file named db1.mdb or Database1.mdb that's about the right size, if you're lucky, this will be a useable copy of the database that was left over from the Compact/Repair. If it's not there, then you'll have to pull an old copy from your backups

Thank you! I thought it was a bad compacting but was worried it was something I did. Thank you for the reply. Sigh of relief. Thanks for the recovery tip too!
