Unhappy Can not import any excel 2010 spreadsheet into access 2010

I am having a problem with access 2010. When I try to import any excel spreadsheet into access the program hangs for ever if I let it. I have to shut down the program to restart. I am just a beginning user of access and trying to follow a beginners course put on by Microsoft. Not a good start when the software doesn't work and the developers won't provide support for it. (Product ID has expired.) Any suggestions on how to repair or replace this product without buying a new license would be greatly appreciated. I have run the setup and selected repair. I have also run setup and selected run all from my computer. I am not an IT pro. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get my problem fixed. (Office 2010 pro plus 32 bit on windows 7 home premium 64 bit)

Can you please tell me exactly what steps you are taking in your attempt to import the Excel 2010 spreadsheet into Access 2010?
    I use both Access 2010 AND Excel 2010 . . . I will try & either duplicate your issue - or provide a solution/workaround.

Do you have a Windows XP 32 bit machine running A2010 available you can test import? If not, want to provide the Excel file for analysis? Follow instructions at bottom of my post.

I am certainly not 100% sure where the problem lies exactly - what you are trying to achieve should be rather a straight forward and easy operation. However, I think that the technical glitch might be caused by the fact that you are running 32 bit software on 64 bit operating system...

    I run Office 2010 32bit with Windows 7 64bit without issue.
