Will access 2013 executables work with 2010 runtime?

I just bought Office 365 Small Business Premium, which comes with the latest desktop version of office. But I realized the free runtime version is not available yet for 2013. Will the 2010 runtime work with files compiled in Access 2013? Somehow I don't think so.

Unfortunately, my trial version of access 2010 has expired. So I suspect my only options now are:

1.) Buy a new single copy of Access 2010 for about $100 for one computer, and use that to compile my access code for distribution until the 2013 runtime is released.

2.) Just wait for the release of 2013 runtime and don't distribute my code to anyone (for the next 6 months or so).

3.) Spend the next 6 months learning javascript, PHP and MySQL ;-). (That's a joke)

    Any thoughts on this problem?

    Thanks much in advance,

    Joe

Thanks for the note back, I read the posts and did some more research. I'm in a worse spot than I thought, because MS Access 2010 is now essentially unavailable. Microsoft has pulled the plug on the product, and now I can't even find it from the legitimate on-line retailers, let alone Microsoft. Since many of the machines I work with are XP machines, I'm really kind of stuck. I can't deploy with 2010 because I can't buy it, I can't use 2013 (no runtime, nor is it compatible with XP). My Kingdom for a copy of MS Access 2010!! Anyone got a copy they want to sell?

I don't know what you mean by legitimate on-line retailers but I did a google for 'buy Access 2010' and got lots of hits, including Walmart.com http://www.walmart.com/ip/Microsoft-...-2010/14272897. I also found it listed on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-077-...ds=access+2010

Maybe their web marketing is out of date and the product really isn't available so crossing fingers.
    Good luck.

Thanks June, but Walmart and Amazon are both out of stock (permanently, I'm afraid). Amazon actually shows you Access 2010, but when you try to order it, it switches to 2013. Oh, well, I updated my work computer to Windows 7 today, maybe I'll update the other XP machines and tough it out until the 2013 runtime comes out.

Also, I noticed that as long as you don't use features new to 2013, you can run 2013-saved databases using the 2010 runtime, just not as .exe files. But at least they can be run so I have a way to distribute the databases. It is not very secure, but at least I can use the accdr rename trick which also seems to work in 2010 runtime. My users are not very computer literate, so I don't think they will figure out how to change the file extension name on their own.

Thanks again for the help. I'm going to mark this solved, although Microsoft is clearly at fault here. They should continue to make prior versions available until the new version runtime is released, or else simultaneously release the runtime version whenever they have a new release.
