    VLookup function in Access?

    Hello Everyone,

I have 2 databases:Employee DB & Stat DB. I am trying to see if there is anyway I can have access "read" the Employee name in the stats database and "look up" the corresponding employee id from the Employee DB and bring it over to the Stats DB and have it function as a primary key in all my tables in the Stat database.

So in essence: the employee db has emp id, employee name, function, and the stat database has multiiple tables with their names and stats. I want to bring over the employee id to each table in the stats database so i can start linking up and performing calculations in the stats database.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Typically you would link to both tables. On your form for the stats table you'd have a combo that got its selections from the employee table.

There is no VLookup in Access.

Why don't you link to the Tables in one database from the other database?
    Research Link Table Manager

There is a video tutorial here that shows how to link tables in 2 separate databases.

It is quite long, but does show the steps and examples.
