How do I make my .accdb database 'Read Only'

I am using Access 2010 and would like to make the data available to the public but do NOT want users to tinker with the data.

    Any help will be appreciated.

All-in-one (not split); disable ribbon, navigation pane, shortcutmenus; build forms that don't allow edit; offer reports for print output. Convert to accde file.

Thank you, June7, but I finally found what I was looking for...

    Open form in Design mode
Right Click small square button in upper left corner
Left click on form properties (form properties box appears)
locate Allow Edits line toward bottom of list
    Change YES to NO
    Left click Save icon

You can not now edit the form

Naturally to change it back just go through the sequence and change Allow Edits back to YES.

That doesn't make sense. Opening form in Design mode will not display data.

Well, it disallows one to edit data in that form. Try it.

I don't understand. Design view does not display data. What use is that to users?

Sorry, June7. I probably didn't express myself well. I open the form in DESIGN VIEW. athen I open FORM PROPERTIES and change the Allow Edits line and SAVE the object.

Then when I distribute the database the new user can't edit the data. This would not deter you or even me, but the casual user would not be able to corrupt the data.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Can they still see tables and queries in the Navigation Pane? How long do you think it will take them to start messing with?

Even if you do what I suggested in post 2, short of converting to accde, hold down the shift key when opening accdb and most project settings will be bypassed and users can do anything with the file design and the data.

I did say in post 2 to build forms that don't allow edit. Sorry I was not specific but you found the means.

what u r doing is setting form - allow edits=no. that won't necessarily stop users making changes to ur db. or even deletings stuff.

what June is saying will protect the database from users getting into your tables and making changes.

i'd suggest, to start with see the difference between .accdb and .accde ..... or u can go with allow edits = no
