Automate field in a table

Is there a way to automate a field in table on report to allow the following to display and change as you create new entry 2009/0001. I want the year to change when year passes and the 0000 represents documents so when I create a new record I would like to automatically change to 0001, 0002 etc,

before i comment on the problem i must know do you intend your number to have have only a digits e.g. 0001.
once you make this clear i will give u the solution.
