Data base is growing in size

    Hi ,
I am new with Ms access. I have created a database in Ms Access 2007 which is working fine.Only the thing which is confusing me is its size. my data base is sharing 75Mb from hard drive.Which is i think a considerable size, considering the fact that my data base contains only 5 tables, few forms, querys, macros and images.

Could u please help me to reducing its size.
    Thanking You in anticipation,

    Regards

Have you tried a Compact and Repair?

Are you storing pictures? That will bloat up a db.

As a test, try linking them instead and see what the difference is. How are you storing them? As attachments or OLE fields?

Your next step is to create a new blank database and import all the objects, with the exception of the tables. Then repeat for the tables only. finally link the tables via the front end to the back end.

You have not indicated as to whether you were using a split database anyway.

Importing into a blank db has the other effect of leaving unnecessary stuff in the old db. Well worth the few minutes time it takes to do it.

You need to perform Compact and Repair in order to feel size effect after deleting something from Access database.

Anyway, when you insert JPG pictures thru OLE, system keeps them as uncompressed bitmaps (approx 3 Mb for 1024x768 picture).

In Access 2007 consider using Attachment datatype for images - it doesn't suffer this effect.

In My Opinion; wouldn't worry about it. There's alot going on in the background of a database in terms of crossreferencing. If you split it - you will find the BE isn't particularly big. That file is more analogous with plain old data. The FE has alot going on and that's just the way it is. I don't think anything is technically wrong at all.

your database will eventually grow. so if you have issues you can see posts here and share your comment on this site where Access Team might sees it and probably hear you out.
