Sorting a report

I have a report that has multiple grouping levels. However, I'd like to apply a sort to a field. When I right-click on it, the sort optoins are greyed out. Why is this? I can filter on each field, but sorting is disabled. I'd like to sort the report A to Z, but can't. Any ideas?

Nope, need to review report. If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
