Alternate Back Color Property

Can anyone tell me what this property is for?

Like it sounds, it alternates the back color of the section. From hellp:

Gets or sets the background color to display on alternate rows of the specified section.

That's what I thought it was supposed to be but when I look at the report It sets the background color about once every 18 rows. I have it in the detail section which displays a member name, member id, and phone number to contact the member. I must be doing something wrong but I'll be damned if I know what it is. What I want is for the detail line only to be alternating colors. So I set all of the Groups to no color and only the detail section alternate back color property to Background 1, Darker 5% am I missing something?????

Not sure without seeing it. Just tested and it worked as expected:

That's what I'm trying to get unfortunately I work in Health care and HIPAA Regulations prevent me from displaying the report here. However using your report as a sample the first 11/12/2012 Line would be the only one with gray background the rest are white.

Not sure offhand, but I'll ponder it. I tried on two different reports and both worked fine.
