Overflow message when trying to export Report to Excel.

    Hi,

I have a report based on a table that has six fields and just over 32k rows of data in it.
The report opens fine in Access [takes about a second to open] - and I was able to export it as a pdf - [686 pages].

When I try to export it as an Excel Spreadsheet - it scrolls through about 600 page numbers [in the export progress dialog box] and then displays an 'Overflow' dialog box. The spreadsheet is not created.

Any ideas why Access is doing that - and how I can overcome it?

    Thanks!

    Robeen

No Idea why it's happening. Have you tried exporting it in segments Could be 1 Record has data in 1 field that is causing Excel to Error. Also which version of Excel Seems to me at 1 time Excel had a Row limit of 32K. I think that was upped to 65K with version 2007 but I could be wrong on both counts. Not a big user of Excel.

The Report exports fine to pdf.
The Table from which the Report gets its data exports to Excel just fine.
It's only when I attempt to export the Report to Excel that I get the Overflow message.
I'm using Excel 2010 and I was aware of the row limit but didn't think that was the issue since there are only 32k rows in the Table.

One thing I have not noticed before when exporting reports to Excel is how the progress dialog box shows 'page' numbers.
I don't know why it is showing page numbers - and I don't know if that is even related to the Overflow message.
The page count in the progress dialog box goes up to over 600 before I get the message.
When I export to pdf - there are 686 pages.

What if you try exporting to a text file of some sort (CSV, tab-delimited, etc), and then try importing that text file into Excel?
It is kind of a round-about way, but then you can see if it appears that volume is an issue.
