    Problems opening database

I have a database that was written for Access 2000. I am now using 2007 and there is an issue opening the database. It is broken into 2 parts, the data and the program. In 2000 and running xp, if I copied the program and data files into any named folder the program opened and worked just fine. Now using 2007 and xp the database need to be in a certain location before it will open, changes are also saved to this location, it is the location a shortcut points to, this presents a problem to me. Is there a way to change the program side so that it looks for the data in the folder that the data is located? I also run the program on a Vista 64 bit computer and the program will not even open, I get an error listing a macro, there are no macros on the xp program. Any help would be appreciated.
