    Which data in which table?

    Hi,

We are using an access application built a few years ago and added to over the years.

The users complain than they have problems running queries because they do not know which table(s) the data is in.

Does anyone have any tips that would help the user to find this information in access?

    Thanks

You should probably export all the tables into Excel. Then highlight the entire first table in Excel, and hit copy. Next, go to a new sheet and click in cell A1. The, use the "Paste Special" feature and click on the box that says "transpose". This will place all the fields in column A. Now you can delete all the columns from B and on, just Keeping Column A. Now do a data sort, Asscending, and all the fields will be in alphabetical order for that table.

You can do this for every table, and store the spreadsheet with each tab being a different table from your original database. Since it is in alphbetical order, it will be easier to see what fields are in each table, and you can also use Control+F to do a find.
