    Exclamation Greater than date

I am doing a query in the design view, and I want to include a criteria that says I only want dates that are after may 5th, I did that:

    > "05-May-09" and also tried > '05-May-09'

I made sure the short date format on my computer is set to that format.

And I keep getting Type Mismatch even though I verified that the field to which I am comparing 5th may IS a date.

    What's the problem? Help appreciated.

    Thanks.
