I want to extract only those Grant ID's beginning with 05

ID:	8419Here is the query in design and table view. I keep getting the 06 grants when I want only the 05s. Plus one 05 grant, 05-48, is missing. If you can't see the design screen shot the formula is >04-44 and <06-07.

DUH!!! I was using the dash between the #s instead of the underscore. The problem with the one missing grant number continues.....I'll return in a few minutes.

Yes, the formula >04_44 and <06_03 gives me all the 05s with the exception of two grants from the 2005 series, those being grants 05_48 and 05_49. Can't figure out why. Any insight is appreciated.
It gets worse: 12 grant numbers are missing. I don't understand why.

I'm relatively new to access and I'm not sure why those two "05" entries aren't showing up, but it might the way access stores those values. Anyways I would try using:

    Like "05_*" or Like "05_??"

in the query for Grant ID instead and see if that returns the right information

Thanks, but that returns no values at all. But, thanks for trying.

I just made a dummy database and query according to what you posted. The query seemed to work okay for me.

What data type is Grant ID?

    @ uncletreetrunk: TEXT

Further info: I did years 04 and 05. When compared against the original table each query is missing about half of the grant IDs -- not just a couple as I originally thought.

Hmmm... and [Like "05_*"] didn't work? That's weird. Hopefully someone with more access experience will come along and solve this!

    Good luck!

Or could you post a stripped down version of your database? i.e. delete all other fields except Grant ID

Maybe working with it will help me, I am a more hands on person

Using the tblStudent, I want to create a separate report for each year. I cannot seem to write a successful query. I've been able to break out the year -- but I'm only getting some of the data for that year -- not all of it. When I go back and check the query against the table several of the records for the year I'm trying to isolate are missing.

I'm using Access 2010. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hey snowboarder! I don't know about anyone else, but when I tried to click your link I got 404 Error

You can always attach files to your forum posts by going to advanced view and click attachments

Don't forget to go Compact and Repair before you attach (it's under Office button->Manage)

Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to figure something else out because the file, even though zipped, is too large to upload to the forum.
