    Auto populate tbl

    Hi Guys,

First post here - Previously on mrExcel but thought i'd expand over here!

Not got much much knowledge on Access but feel comfortable with simple SQL querys as I use them now and then in VBA.

I need a table that will auto-populate the last 20 days of data from a master table. Is this something that I can do?

I'm wanting to link Minitab to it for a number of control charts but only require the last 20 days previous to today or the day I run it.

Do I need to open Access to run the query? as tend to only use the designer view when in Access.

    Thanks
    Fodzilla

Why do you need to populate a table? Why not just query the master table?

What is Minitab? Can't link to a query?

Run an INSERT INTO SELECT sql action.

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. Minitab is statistical software to understand process control. It will connect to a DB tbl but downloads all of the tbl data. However I need only the sum volumes by day for the previous 20 days.

There is no way to select a range or run a query though it. So wanted a access table to auto populate the sum'd volumes by day.

    Hope this makes sense?

    Yes, it does.

Tables cannot populate themselves. Run an SQL INSERT INTO SELECT action. http://www.sqlteam.com/article/using...insert-records

You will want to delete the existing records in the 'temp' table. Run SQL DELETE action first.
