From Wiki: A double-entry bookkeeping system is a set of rules for recording financial information in a financial accounting system in which every transaction or event changes at least two different nominal ledger accounts.

Why reinvent the wheel? Better off buying Quickbooks than trying to build an Access db.

Thanks...is it difficult to create one in access DB? And correct me if I am wrong...so for example, you have a form with some textbox fields and a button to insert the records in to a table.
what double entry system means is that you re-enter the same data again and create a new table and compare both the tables on a field level and see if they match?
Could you please explain the logic using a simple example and how can this be implemented, say you enter address in to a table with city, state and country information for the same person.

Double entry is used in bookkeeping as a technique to perform checks and balances on number data. For example, if you pay cash for a new truck, the business loses cash asset but gains equipment asset. One entry reduces cash account and another increases equipment, although equity is not yet impacted. Depreciation of the equipment will do that. I wouldn't even try to build such a system. I have used Quickbooks and it does the job quite well.

What you described is not double entry recording but duplicate recording. You want to avoid having to repeatedly enter customer name and address for every time there is a record entered related to that individual. This is a major principle of relational database. Review this for starters http://forums.aspfree.com/microsoft-...es-208217.html then sit down with an introductory book on Access.
