    Locking a record

I know this has come up a lot, but I cannot seem to get my head around all the advice and get it to work.

    One back-end, multiple front-ends

User 1 selects a record and the form gets the data and displays it.

User 2 selects the same record and is able to edit it. THIS is what I need to prevent. If a user has a record displayed on the form I want it to be locked so that when another user tries to select that record they are told that it is locked. Selecting the option "Edited Record" does not do it.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks June. Those links go into serious VBA code and tables to sort out the problem. Access obviously doesn't do it? I have up to 4 users - usually only 2 - and this is overkill IMO. I was hoping it would be an easy option, no wonder there are no obvious solutions.

I have a split db with up to about 10 possible users at a time. Multiple users hitting the same record for editing has not been an issue. The work flow just makes this unlikely to happen.
