    Name Merge

What would I enter into the control source of a report field to merge the First Name and Last Name from a table, so that the report's field just has both first and last name together?

    =[FirstName] & " " & [LastName]
...using your field names of course. BTW, embedded spaces in names in not a particularly good idea in Access.

    Problem

When I add =[FirstName] & " " & [LastName] and then look at the report, it shows "#error" where the field should be

You will need to have two controls on the report bound to these two fields as well. You can make those two controls invisible and put them behind the FullName control so it is easier to look at the report in design view. You *are* using your names for the fields, right?
