    typical query on grouping

    hi friends,

I have a table like the below one -

    Name Job
    ------------------
    Jim machining
    Jack riveting
    Jim riveting
    James plumbing
    Jill machining
    Jim plumbing
    Jack plumbing

What I need is following output results -

    1.
    Name Job
    -----------------------
    Jack riveting, plumbing
    James plumbing
    Jill machining
    Jim machining, riveting, plumbing

    2.
    Job Name
    ------------------------------
    machining Jill, Jim
    plumbing Jack, James, Jim
    riveting Jack, Jim

Please help me out on how to get these result with Access 2003?

You could create two reports and group one by Name, and the other one by Job.
Your data would look like this:

    Code:
    Jack
       riveting
       plumbing
    James
       plumbing
    Jill
       machining
    Jim
       machining
       riveting
       plumbing
    Would that work for you?
It really is the easy way to display grouped data.

The best other way I have used involves writing VBA and it's time consuming.

    Dear Robeen,

    thanks a lot...
but what I need is the SQL Statement for the same... and NOT in Report. :-(

    Have a nice day
